Documentation

DialogueBase docs

A local-first lab for knowledge assistants. The knowledge is the product, and it stays inspectable at every step.

Getting started

Add sources

Open Sources and add the material the assistant may draw on. Everything it can say traces back to what you put here.

Ask in the playground

Ask questions, read the answers, and inspect which sources were used for each one.

Correct and test

Fix wrong answers on the spot, then promote conversations into test cases so future edits cannot silently regress quality.

Share and learn

Put the assistant in front of visitors. Unanswered questions cluster into the gaps you should write next.

Concepts

Source - a unit of knowledge the assistant can cite. Cited answer - a playground answer with its sources attached. Correction - a human fix that becomes part of the knowledge. Test case - a saved question with its expected behavior, runnable after any source change. Gap cluster - a group of unanswered visitor questions sharing a topic. Visitor contact - a name and email left in the public chat, stored locally for your own follow-up.

How DialogueBase Studio works: Cited answers, Tests from chats, Gap clusters.
Cited answers: The playground answers from your sources and shows which ones it used. Tests from chats: Corrections become knowledge, and conversations become regression tests. Gap clusters: Unanswered questions cluster by topic, so you know what source to write next.

Sources and answers

The sources view lists everything the assistant knows, readable line by line. Answers in the playground cite the sources they used, so a wrong answer always traces to specific material - fix the source or add a correction.

Playground

Ask, inspect, correct. The playground is where the assistant meets judgement: each exchange shows its sources, and corrections entered here feed the knowledge used by later answers.

Review and test cases

Promote conversations into a regression suite. After editing sources, rerun the cases and compare outcomes. This is how a knowledge base changes without silently getting worse.

Gap analytics

Unanswered or unresolved visitor questions cluster by shared topic. Each gap is a source you could write. Aggregate scores are shown alongside the failures, because an average alone hides them.

Sharing

The share view puts the assistant where the questions are. Names and emails visitors type into the public chat stay on this browser; export the list and follow up yourself. Nothing is emailed automatically - DialogueBase has no mail capability.

Data and export

Sources, conversations, corrections, test cases, and visitor contacts live in local storage and export as JSON. Import restores a previous export.

Privacy

No analytics, no cookies, no uploads. Visitor contacts never leave the browser except by your explicit export. See the trust center.
